How Much Was Aaron Rodgers’ Contract With the Packers & Jets?

Aaron Rodgers is one of those names that garners a lot of attention, on and off the field. Often a controversial figure, Rodgers has been attracting attention long before his Netflix documentary Aaron Rodgers: Enigma gave viewers a glimpse of who he really was. Some of that attention has been on the field, where he is regarded as one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

A lot of it, however, has been off the field, where his feud with his brother Jordan Rodgers, and his lies about being vaccinated at the time when the NFL had mandated all players were either vaccinated or at least disclosed the fact that they weren’t have put him at the center of the spotlight. If you add to that Rodgers’ high-profile relationships with Olivia Munn and later Shailene Woodley it’s no wonder Rodgers had enough in his life for a Netflix documentary, even outside of his accomplishments on the field.

But there are accomplishments on the field to be mentioned too. He led the Packers to a victory in Super Bowl XLV, earning Super Bowl MPV, and was NFL MVP in 2011, 2014, 2020, and 2021. And all of those things earned him a pretty good salary with the Packers, and a pretty good salary with the Jets now too. But how much exactly were those contracts worth? How much was Aaron Rodgers’ first contract with the Packers? What was his last contract with the Jets worth? Here’s how much Aaron Rodgers has made.

How much was Aaron Rodgers’ contract with the Packers and Jets?

Aaron Rodgers - Jets

Aaron Rodgers was drafted 24th overall by the Green Bay Packers in the 2005 NFL Draft, despite Rodgers believing he had a chance to be drafted number 1 by the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers, however, selected Alex Smith. That likely cost Rodgers a lot of money and he ended up signing a contract with the Packers worth $7,700,000 for 5 years. This included a $1,500.000 signing bonus and an average annual salary of $1,540,000.

He saw a big jump the first time he renewed his contract, in 2009. Then he signed a 6-year $63,520,000 contract with the Green Bay Packers, which meant an average annual salary of $10,586,667. One year before his contract ended, in 2013, he signed another extension with the Packers, this time for 5 years and $110,000,000 including a $33,250m000 signing bonus, and an average annual salary of $22.000,000.

His next extension, in 2018, was for 4 years and $134,000,000. That included a $57,500,000 signing bonus and an average annual salary of $33,500,000. The numbers keep going up. His final extension with the Packers was in 2022 and it was for 3 years, for $150,815,000, including a $40,800.000 signing bonus, and an average annual salary of $50,271,667.

From the Packers, he went on to sign with the New York Jets after asking for a trade because the Packers were no longer competitive. That contract, which he signed in 2023, is for 3 years and $112,500,000. His average annual salary is $37,500,000.

All in all, pretty good numbers, particularly for a 41-year-old QB. Most players his age are long since retired. Rodgers is still not just playing, but doing well and making good money.
