It was the news that sent shockwaves through the Bach Nation. And now, The Golden Bachelor‘s Leslie has responded to Gerry and Theresa’s divorce after just three months of marriage. The couple announced their split on Good Morning America on April 12, 2024.
Leslie was, after all, Gerry’s runner-up to his bride-to-be, Theresa, to whom he proposed in the final Rose Ceremony. Amid news he and Theresa have split, fans called for him and Leslie to get together—dominating the comments section of her Instagram posts.
“Will Leslie and Gerry date again now???” one fan wrote, while others are convinced Leslie “dodged a bullet” by not ending up with the restauranteur. “God was protecting you Leslie. Bc if it was you and not Theresa the haters would blame you for the divorce,” wrote another. Leslie has stayed mum on both fronts. Silence speaks volumes, as they say.
On Good Morning America, Gerry and Theresa explained the reason for their split, citing logistical reasons and distance as the main triggers.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and — and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Gerry said. “We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision,” Theresa added.
“I still love this person,” Turner said. “There’s no doubt in my mind, I still am in love with her. I root for her every day.” The feeling is mutual, said Theresa. “Yeah, I still love him. … We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched The Golden Bachelor, and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope,” Theresa said. “We want none of that to change for anybody.”
